Govt should be strict on sculpture issue: DUTA

The Dhaka University Teachers' Association (DUTA) has called upon the government on Monday to be strict on the sculpture issue and in protecting the sculpture of Bangabandhu.
They have said this from a human chain, held at noon at the base of Aparajeyo Bangla of Dhaka University (DU) campus.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman, acting President of DUTA Prof Md Lutfor Rahaman, its General Secretary Prof Md Nizamul Hoque Bhuiyan, Prof ASM Maksud Kamal, Proctor Dr AKM Golam Rabbani and others were present at the event.
DU VC Md Akhtaruzzaman said, "Sculpture is the medium of expression of creative art. It is manifested through human beings. Humanity is interrupted when sculpture is interrupted. So our government should be strict against these anti-civilisation forces."
Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof Md Rahmat Ullah said, "Hitting on the sculpture of Bangabandhu means hitting on Bangladesh, hitting on the spirit of the Liberation War. We did not want such a Bangladesh on the golden jubilee of independence."
