Govt to create 0.1m IT literate teachers

The government plans to establish ICT training and resource centres in 125 upazilas and create 0.1 million  IT literate teachers at secondary schools and madrasas within next two years to spread e-learning across the country, official sources said, reports BSS.

Talking to the news agency, Education Secretary Md Nazrul Islam Khan said in light of the government's Digital Bangladesh vision, the education ministry has launched a number of e-education projects, including one, that would establish 125 e-learning centres and create 0.1 million IT literate teachers at secondary schools and madrasas.

"We have already introduced multimedia classroom in 23,500 schools and imparted training on multimedia contents to over 20,000 teachers. Now, we are establishing 125 upazila ICT training and resource centres and creating 0.1 million IT literate teachers," he added.

The sources said the UITRCE project involving Taka 4.03 billion was launched in August, 2013 for implementing within two years.
