The government is going to simplify the process of issuing environmental clearance with intent to reduce sufferings of the service-seekers.
The government officials concerned have been directed to take steps to this end.
The development came as environment, forest and climate change minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury on Tuesday made the directive.
He assured the stakeholders of taking an initiative to help the people get environmental clearance certificates and allied services properly and on time.
Mr Saber directed the officials concerned to issue such clearances systematically with a mindset to serve the people, warning that "no irregularity in issuing clearance will be tolerated".
He gave the directive at a meeting with the officials of the ministry and the environmental directorate on the process of issuing environmental clearances at the secretariat.
The minister asserted that effective measures would be taken against air pollution to protect public health.
Legal action would be taken against air pollution spawned by brick kilns in this regard.
Mr Saber said the control of air pollution in Dhaka city would be coordinated with relevant ministries and organisations.
