Govt to form migration coordination body at upazila level

The government will form Upazila Migration Coordination Committee to ensure proper implementation of migration activities.

"Upazila Migration Coordination Committee" is being formed at the upazila level consisting of union parishad chairman, upazila executive officer and upazila parishad chairman," said state minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Shofiqur Rahman Choudhury on Tuesday at a meeting.

The review meeting on the progress of the decision taken regarding the sending skilled manpower and increasing the remittances was organised by the expatriates' welfare ministry in its conference room in the city.

Upazila Migration Coordination Committee will help raise awareness and build capacity on migration, provide redress to defrauded workers and assist in the reintegration of returnee workers.

Secretary of expatriates' welfare ministry Md Ruhul Amin, director general of Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) Saleh Ahmed Mujaffor were, among others present in the meeting.
