The government has taken an initiative to launch 'assessment tools' for the next six months from 1st July to evaluate the quality of education in primary schools across the country, reports BSS.
Under the initiative, the government will collect ground level real information, including the quality of education of students from grade 3 to grade 5 of primary schools, talent development, school attendance, environment around the school and teaching methods.
Later, by reviewing the information collected through the 'Assessment Tools', practical initiatives will be taken to further strengthen the quality and foundation of primary education in the future.
A senior official of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said the government will make a real picture of the primary school education across the country through the 'Assessment Tools' from July 1 for the next six months.
At the district level, the Deputy Commissioner (DC), at the upazila level, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), and at the divisional level, the Divisional Commissioners will supervise the activities of this system in primary schools in their respective affiliated areas, he added.
He said field-level education officers will be deployed to improve the quality of education of lagging students by reviewing the marginal data through assessment tools.
The government has taken a detailed plan in this regard, he added.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, a letter signed by Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Director (Policy and Operations) of the Directorate of Primary Education, stated that data collection work will be started in primary schools through assessment tools.
The letter states that it is necessary to determine the learning status of students from grade 3 to grade 5 in Bengali, Mathematics and English of government primary schools through the assessment tools prepared by the Directorate of Primary Education.
It is also essential to improve the learning status by following the subject-based work methods and work plans for providing tone-based teaching.
Various work plans have also been adopted through the assessment tools prepared to improve the status of relatively backward students.
