Govt undertakes Tk 2.27b project for FFs\\\' housing

The government has undertaken a project to construct houses for landless and insolvent Freedom Fighters (FFs) across the country aimed at rehabilitating the valiant sons of the soil, reports BSS.
"As per the commitment of the Prime Minister for welfare of the FFs, this important project is being implemented at 484 upazilas with a provision for constructing 2,971 houses," Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque told the parliament while replying to a question from treasury bench member M Abdul Wadud Sunday.
He said the project for the FFs started in July, 2012, and would be completed by June 2016. At least 303 houses were already constructed, while 794 houses are under construction, he informed the House.
The minister said the government has floated tender for construction of 450 houses for the landless and insolvent FFs. "The government is also considering construction of 10,000 more houses for the FFs in the next fiscal year," he added.
Besides, the government directed the authorities concerned to form committees in all districts for allotting khas land at the upazila level among the landless Freedom Fighters across country, the minister also said.
