The government has undertaken a (Tk 6.61billion crore project to develop BanglaBiz, a unified digital platform that will integrate all existing One Stop Service (OSS) portals to simplify business registration and investment-related approvals.
The project, currently awaiting final clearance from the Prime Minister's Office, aims to create a single digital gateway for investors by bringing together the services of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), and the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, said a press release on Tuesday.
The initiative is designed to cut the time required for initial business registration and regulatory clearances to three working days, replacing procedures that often take two to three years.
Under the project, BanglaBiz will feature a Single Sign-On (SSO) system, enabling users to access services from multiple agencies through a single account.
It will also include a Know Your Approvals dashboard for real-time monitoring of licence and permit applications.
A key component of the project is the introduction of a Unique Business ID (UBID) for every enterprise.
The lifelong identifier will facilitate seamless information sharing among government agencies, eliminate repetitive documentation, and improve service delivery.
The project is being implemented in phases. Phase 1 was launched in February 2026 with a basic Business Starter Pack, while integration of critical services is scheduled over the next nine to twelve months.
Full digitisation of investment-related services is targeted by 2030.
The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) is providing technical support for the project, while the Invest Bangladesh Act serves as its legal foundation.
Officials believe the BanglaBiz project will modernise Bangladesh's investment facilitation system, improve the ease of doing business, and attract greater domestic and foreign investment.
