Govt will cling on to country's dev: DSCC mayor

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said on Wednesday the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led government is committed to ensuring overall development of the country, whatever criticism is unleashed by the critics.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will cling on to the journey for development of Bangladesh, defying an criticism made by the critics against her government," he said while inaugurating work on the 20-kilometre Underground Power Distribution Network at Dhanmondi 2/A Road in the capital.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working towards her goal to develop Bangladesh," he added.

"We (the government) started removing overhead piles of wires from the capital by placing those underground," he said.

"The Prime Minister has inaugurated Padma Bridge. The work on MRT is going on smoothly. Karnaphuli Tunnel in Chattogram will be launched soon," he said listing other development activities by the government. "The government of Awami League under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will work for the welfare of the people of the country. Bangladesh will move forward to materialise Bangabandhu's dream of Sonar Bangla," the city father maintained.

Mr Taposh said PM Sheikh Hasina has turned Bangladesh into a middle-income country from a lower-middle one within a span of only 14 years.
