'Govt will turn Rajshahi Airport into an int'l one'

RAJSHAHI, July 03 (BSS): Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal said on Tuesday Shahmukhdum Airport in Rajshahi will be an international one in future.

"We have already started implementing necessary infrastructure development works in the airport to turn it into a full-fledged domestic one," he said.

The minister said this while addressing a press conference in Rajshahi town.

District administration organised the conference on 'Expansion and Development of Shahmukhdum Airport."

Prior to the press conference, the minister also addressed a review meeting with public representatives, members of the civil society and high officials of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) on the same issue.

The meeting was also addressed, among others, by Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, Engineer Enamul Haque, MP, Akhter Jahan, MP, CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Nayeem Hassan and its Member Air Commodore Mustafizur Rahman, Chief Engineer Sudhenda Bikash Goswami and Superintending Engineer Shahidul Afroj with Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader in the chair.
