The Ministry of Religious Affairs has brought forward the primary registration deadline for Hajj pilgrims to ensure efficient management of the pilgrimage, reports bdnews24.com.
On Sunday, the ministry's Hajj wing announced that the primary registration formalities must be completed by Oct 23.
As per the roadmap set by Saudi Arabia, the government will begin signing contracts with tent makers and service companies on October 23, the Hajj wing said in a statement.
Tents will be allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis. Therefore, pilgrims who fail to complete their registration by October 23 will not have tents in their preferred zones in Mina and Arafah.
Instead, they may have to stay in the hilly regions or the New Mina area, which is significantly farther from Jamarah.
Consequently, those who fail to register by Oct 23 may face long walks in Saudi Arabia's severe heat during the pilgrimage.
Therefore, the ministry requested the Hajj pilgrims to complete the primary registration within the deadline and pay the Tk 300,000 fee to ensure proper Hajj management.
The pre-registration for 2025's Hajj pilgrimage kicked off on August 13. The pre-registration could be done by paying Tk 30,000 from that day, Tafikul Islam, assistant secretary of the Hajj wing in the ministry, had said at the time.
Currently, the first step for Hajj is to complete the pre-registration. A person willing to go for the pilgrimage gets an ID number after completing pre-registration. If that person is chosen for the pilgrimage, they are notified via SMS or through the website.
