Hamid, Hasina greet new Lankan President

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina have congratulated Maithripala Sirisena on his election as Sri Lankan President, reports UNB.

In separate messages issued on Friday night, the President and the PM expressed the hope that bilateral relations between the two friendly countries would further be widened and deepened during his presidency.

President Hamid in his message said, "It's my immense pleasure to

warmly congratulate you on your victory in the presidential election of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka."

Under Sirisena's leadership, Hamid said, the people of Sri Lanka will experience greater peace, progress and prosperity in the coming days.

He conveyed his very best wishes for his success in his high office and for his good health, happiness and personal wellbeing.
