Harbour patrol boat handed over to Coast Guard

Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Sarwar Jahan Nizam visited Khulna Shipyard Thursday, reports BSS.
During the visit, he witnessed different activities of Khulna Shipyard, a commercial enterprise run by Bangladesh Navy, and expressed his satisfaction as the shipyard became profitable enterprise of southern part of Bangladesh.
Later, he formally handed over a harbour patrol boat, which was indigenously manufactured in Khulna Shipyard, to Bangladesh Coast Guard, said an ISPR press release.
Among others, Director General of Coast Guard Commodore MAK Azad, Commodore Commanding Khulna Captain KT Zaman, Managing Director of Khulna Shipyard Ltd. Captain RU Ahmed and high officials from navy and civil organisations were present.
Khulna Shipyard was about to close as a sick industry before its handing over to Bangladesh Navy. Under the proper guidance and skilled management of Bangladesh Navy, presently it appeared as a profitable industry of the country.
Bangladesh Navy tugs -- Rupsha and Sibsha -- were built at the shipyard recently, the release said.
At present, the organisation is manufacturing new ships, repairing and renovating ships of different government and private organisations.
Besides, it is manufacturing and repairing various heavy equipment of different industries with skill and dedication.
Khulna Shipyard has also been playing a significant role in the field of building up national economy.
