Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina has taken several ministers to task at the cabinet meeting for being in suit and tie in summer, ignoring a government order. Despite a directive to shun suit and ties from March to November, a few of the ministers appeared at Monday's meeting wearing them, reports bdnews24.com.
The Cabinet Division on Sept 1, 2009 had issued an order for the male employees in government, semi-government and autonomous offices to stop wearing suit and ties from March to November, except on formal occasions.
The order was reissued on Jun 5, 2012 to remind the employees about putting on short- or full-sleeved shirts and trousers in summer to cut use of air-conditioners in the power-starved nation.
Power shortfalls are especially acute in the hot summer months from March to November.
