The government has taken up a Tk 4.0 billion project for the development of Gulshan-Banani Lake as it will be linked with Hatirjheel project widening facilities for the city dwellers, reports UNB.
"Hatirjheel project will be linked with Gulshan-Banani Lake. As part of the process, a Tk 4.0-billion project has been taken for the development of Gulshan-Banani Lake," Housing and Public Works Minister Engr Mosharraf Hossain said Sunday, inaugurating the cleansing drive at the Hatirjheel project.
He said the work on linking Hatirjheel with Gulshan-Banani Lake will be completed after getting rid of bad smell from Hatirjheel water through proper purification.
Engr Mosharraf said the government initiatives are there to keep the eye-catching Hatirjheel project neat and clean. "But awareness should be developed among people as well. All need to practice putting wastes in the right place."
He said similar cleansing drive will be conducted in other parks in the country so that people can walk and spend time comfortably.
