The High Court (HC) on Tuesday divided the custody of three children among their parents who are basically from two different countries.

On the other hand, mother Eriko Nakano, a Japanese citizen, has been given the custody of two others, Nakano Jasmine Malika (11) and Nakano Sonia Hana (07).

The HC said the parents would get freedom in upbringing their children who have been divided in their custody.

Both the father and the mother will have the scope to meet and spend time with their children at anytime and anywhere.

The HC bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman delivered the verdict after holding hearing on a revision petition filed by Mr Sharif, challenging the decision of a family court in Dhaka.

Earlier on 29 January 2023, Judge Durdana Rahman gave the custody of the kids, Malika and Lina, to their mother.

Later, AHM Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan, judge of the District and Sessions Judge's Court in Dhaka, upheld the decision of the family court.

Then Mr Sharif filed a revision plea with the HC, challenging the decision of the lower courts.

Upon hearing the petition, the HC granted its prayer partly.

All the kids of the Sharif-Nakano couple are girls. They are still children as per their age. The elder two are in Bangladesh, while the little one is in Japan.
