HC order to protect canals, playgrounds, parks

The High Court (HC) asked Monday the authorities concerned to issue directives to all deputy commissioners for taking proper measures to protect canals, playgrounds and parks across the country, reports BSS.

A bench with Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain issued the order on a petition filed for Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB) as public interest litigation.

The court issued the order on secretaries of the Local Government and Cooperatives, Environment, Water Resources and chairman of the Water Development Board to ensure implementation  of the directives and ordered them to submit a progress report by 30 days.

Earlier on April 7 last year, a writ petition was filed and the court issued rule nishi on the concerned with some directives.
