HC orders security measures for families of child 'rape victims'

The High Court (HC) has ordered Barguna's deputy commissioner and superintendent of police to ensure the safety of a child "rape victim" and her family. Authorities in Magura have similarly been directed to take measures to protect the elder sister of a child who died after she was raped, reports bdnews24.com.

The bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury issued the order on Tuesday after hearing a petition on the matter. The application was filed as a supplement to an earlier writ petition that had sought an order to remove photos and videos of the child from Magura circulating online.

Lawyers Hamidul Mishbah and Syed Mahsib Hossain presented the petition in court. After the ruling, Hamidul said that the Department of Social Services had been asked to oversee the implementation of the security measures.
