HC questions FS rescue capabilities

February 16, 2015 00:00:00

The High Court (HC) wants to know about the rescue capabilities of the Fire Service (FS) to save people from accidents like the one that killed child Jihad, report agencies.

The HC also asked why the government shall not be directed to give Tk 3.0 million (30 lakh) in compensation to the family of Jihad, who died falling into an abandoned deep tube-well pipe at the city's Shahjahanpur Railway Colony in December last.

The HC bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo issued a rule upon the people concerned to this end after holding primary hearing on a writ petition filed by Children Charity Bangladesh Foundation.

Barrister Abdul Halim stood for the petitioner Children Charity Bangladesh Foundation while Deputy Attorney General Amatul Karim stood for the state.
