HC summons IO of Sagar-Runi murder case

A division bench of the High Court (HC) Tuesday summoned the investigation officer (IO) of journalist couple Sagar and Runi murder case to appear before it on March 5 with an update of the case, reports UNB.

The HC bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order while hearing the bail pleas of Bakul Mia, Rafiqul Islam and Kamrul Hasan, the three detained accused in the case.

In its order, the bench also directed the Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to ensure the IO's appearance before the bench on the stipulated date.

Advocate Masud Hasan represented the three accused.

On February 11, 2012, Maasranga Television News Editor Sagar Sarowar and his wife, ATN Bangla senior reporter Meherun Runi, were hacked to death by unidentified people in their rented apartment in the city's Razabazar area.
