The High Court (HC) summoned on Sunday two chief executive officers (CEOs) of Dhaka north and south city corporations to give their explanations over the report they submitted on tackling air pollution in the capital, reports BSS.

The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order, asking the two officials to appear before the court on May 15.

The same HC bench on January 28 directed the authorities concerned to conduct mobile court raids to take legal actions against those causing air pollution in the capital.

The court came up with the order after hearing a writ petition filed by rights group Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB). Advocate Manjil Morshed moved the plea for HRPB.

The court on that day had asked the mayors and the chief executive officers of the two city corporations to raise some kind of boundary walls around the construction sites in the capital, spraying water twice a day in the areas affected most by air pollution.
