Heatwave may continue

Rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with hails at isolated places until 06:00 pm today (Wednesday), according to the Met office.

Severe heatwave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jashore and Patuakhali. Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions and rest parts of Rajshahi, Khluna and Barishal divisions and the districts of Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Bandarban and it may spread.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country. Due to increase of moisture incursion, the discomfort may persist.

The highest temperature in the country on Tuesday was recorded at 40.5 degrees Celsius in Ishurdi of Pabna and Jashore while the lowest temperature 21.4 degrees Celsius in Tentulia of Rangpur.

The highest temperature in the city was recorded at 38.4 degrees Celsius and the lowest was 28.2 degrees.
