Bangladesh Hindu Jagoron Manch (BHJM) blocked the Shahbag intersection of the capital on Friday, to protest against all atrocities against the Hindus, including torture as well as destruction of houses, businesses and temples.
The blockade programme placed four demands, including quick implementation of the previous eight-point charter of demands; judicial investigation and fair trial of all attacks on August 5-20, prosecution of the recent attackers on minorities in Thakurgaon, Chittagong, etc., and providing adequate security during the upcoming Durga Puja.
BHJM Coordinator Pradeep Kanti Dey said, "If you (the government) cannot provide security to the Hindu community, tell us. We will seek security from the United Nations. We urge the interim government to fulfil these demands. If not, in the future, we will be forced to observe strict programmes, coordinating with all the organisations concerned."
