Railways Minister Mujibul Haque said all-out preparations have been taken to give the homebound people the 'best' train services on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, reports UNB.
The Minister made the comments while talking to journalists on Thursday after visiting different counters to see the advance sale of tickets on the occasion of Eid.
He said the Railway officials have been asked to maintain train schedules so that passengers can comfortably go home.
The law enforcers will remain vigil so that passengers do not fall prey to dopers or 'Agyan Party' members, he said.
Railway security men as well as police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members will perform their duties to ensure security for the passengers, the Minister said.
Some 270 bogies would be imported from India and Indonesia in January next to deal with the rush of train passengers, he said.
Mr Haque said the authorities concerned have been asked to take measures to stop travelling on train roofs. Besides, law-enforcement agencies would be deployed at important railway stations and mobile courts will check ticket black marketing, he added.
Meanwhile, Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Benazir Ahmed said on Thursday that RAB has taken all out security measures alongside other law enforcement agencies so that home-bound people can reach their destinations safely during Eid journey.
Briefing reporters while visiting Kamalapur Railway Station, the RAB DG said 7-8 million people will leave Dhaka for their native villages to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their near and dear ones.
"We have taken all-out security measures so that the home-bound people can reach their destinations as well as return to Dhaka safely," said Benazir.
He also said temporary camps of Rab have been set up in the bus stands, railway stations and launch terminals outside Dhaka for security of passengers.
