Holidaymakers and working-class people continued to return to the capital on Friday after celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr.
Visiting Kamalapur Railway Station, as well as bus and launch terminals, heavy passenger pressure was seen as people returned to the city to resume work after the extended Eid holidays.
A large influx of Dhaka-bound passengers was witnessed at Kamalapur Railway Station, Sayedabad, Mohakhali, and Gabtoli bus terminals and the Dhaka River Port Terminal, widely known as Sadarghat launch ghat.
Trains arriving at Kamalapur station from different districts carried an excessive number of passengers.
Returning passengers were seen rushing toward their destinations immediately after their arrival at the station.
They used rickshaws, CNG-run rickshaws, buses, and ride-sharing services to reach their respective destinations in the city.
Despite travel fatigue, many expressed relief at returning safely after enjoying Eid with their families.
A railway official at Kamalapur station told the FE that all trains were arriving on schedule and no major passenger complaints had been reported.
He said security and overall management at the station were being maintained properly.
Several passengers said they did not face major suffering during the return journey.
"I arrived at the city to join my work after celebrating Eid with my family members," Md Sirajul Islam, a private service holder, told the FE at Kamalapur station after arriving from Jamalpur.
Most buses reaching Sayedabad, Mohakhali, and Gabtoli bus terminals were fully packed.
"We have celebrated Eid with parents and relatives. Now we returned to the capital to join work," Md Anwar Hossain, who returned from Noakhali, told the FE at Sayedabad Bus Terminal.
A worker of Brahmanbaria Paribahan told the FE at Kamalapur that Dhaka-bound services were experiencing heavy passenger pressure.
Meanwhile, working people returned to the capital as well as the industrial hubs of Gazipur and Savar after spending the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays with their families.
The government declared Eid holidays from March 17 to 23.
Offices of government and autonomous institutions reopened on March 24 and 25, while March 26 was observed as Independence Day and National Day, extending the holiday period for many travellers.
