MOULVIBAZAR, July 4 (UNB): Refused the hand of his love, a young man allegedly murdered her father and sister-in-law (bhabi) in a remote village of sadar upazila Tuesday night.
Police said Junayed Ahmed indiscriminately stabbed Khaliq Raja (65) and Maya Begum (35) in their Baliarbagh village home at about 10 pm. They died on the spot.
Junayed went into hiding. Police held his elder brother for interrogation.
Family sources of the victims said Junayed hailed from Makhonnagar village of adjoining Habiganj and was a student of Moulvibazar Govt College. He was house tutor (lodging master) of the youngest daughter of Khaliq Raja. He loved her and proposed to marry. But her parents declined and soon ousted him from the house about five months ago.
Late in the evening on Tuesday, Junayed returned, sneaked into the house of Khaliq Raja and kept hiding. At about 10 pm Maya Begum woke up on a sound and detected Junayed. On her alarming cries Raja came sharp. Junayed stabbed them indiscriminately leaving them dead on the spot.
