BRAHMANBARIA, Dec 26 (UNB): A young housewife was burnt to death for dowry at Telikandi village under Sarail Upazila Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Nurjahan (27), wife of Yasid Mia of the village. Victim's family sources said Yasid Mia used to torture and beat up his wife Nurjahan for dowry money.
On the fateful night, Yasid picked up a quarrel with her over the issue and beat her mercilessly. Later, he burnt her to death. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy. After the incident, Yasid along with his family members went into hiding.
