CHITTAGONG, May 14: A housewife was hacked to death in a flat under the Panchlaish police station in the port city on Thursday.
Miscreants killed Sharmin Akhtar (25), mother of a one-year old baby at around 1.30 pm on the third floor of Equity Village at Mirzapool near the Panchlaish police station.
She was the second wife of Mohammed Azim, who left for Abu Dhabi about 50 days ago.
Azim wanted to send Sharmin to her father's house until he returns, but his first wife Rosy Akhtar said she would stay with her at the Equity Village.
Police suspected that Rosy Akhtar might have her hand in the killing. They arrested her for interrogation.
A case has been filed with the Panchlaish police in connection with the murder.
