The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams have been suspended once again amid the prevailing situation in the country, reports bdnews24.com.
The public exams will not resume from Aug 11, as previously announced, and a new schedule will be released at a later date, according to a notice from the Ministry of Education on Wednesday.
An interim government is set to take over after a mass movement ousted Awami League president Sheikh Hasina from power. Amid the ongoing situation, an official decision was made at the ministry on Wednesday.
Tapan Kumar Sarkar, chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and head of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee told the news agency on Monday the exams were unlikely to resume from Aug 11.
Amid the violence surrounding the quota reform protests, schools, colleges, polytechnics and universities were closed indefinitely on July 16. The HSC and equivalent exams were suspended from July 18.
When the situation deteriorated further, the education authorities suspended all exams until August 1.
As circumstances calmed slightly, a new schedule for the HSC and equivalent exams was announced on Aug 4. That schedule was suspended again.
Finally, after repeated delays, the exams were to resume under a new schedule from August 11. It has now been pushed further back.
