The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal No 2 as the cyclonic storm 'Hud Hud' formed over Southeast Bay and adjoining area moved slightly West-Northwestwards and intensified into a sever cyclonic storm, reports UNB.
It was centred at 12 noon Thursday about 1005 kms south-southwest of Chittagong port, 920 kms south-southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 970 kms south-southeast of Mongla port and 940 kms south of Payra port.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a west-northwesterly direction, said a Met office special weather bulletin.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 64 kms of the storm centre is about 90 kph rising to 110 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain very rough near the storm centre.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep sea have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
