Human chain demands inter-city train service on Jamalpur-Dhaka route

Speakers at a human chain in the city on Friday demanded inter-city train service on the newly installed Jamalpur-Dhaka rail route in order to reduce the sufferings of passengers travelling from the district to the capital, reports UNB.
A huge number of people of Jamalpur district travel by train using the route every day. Considering their sufferings, a new rail line has already been set up from Tangail to Tarakandi of the district.
Addressing the human chain, the speakers demanded inter-city service on the new route to further lessen the sufferings of the commuters.
The human chain was jointly organised by Paribesh Bachao Andolon (Poba), Jamalpur Samity, United Peace Foundation and Sarishabari Shikkhya Unyan Foundation in front of the National Press Club.
Vice President of Jamalpur Samity Hasanuzzaman Talukder, Poba coordinator Atique Morshed, United Peace Foundation general secretary (Jamalpur) Russell Rahman and assistant professor of Asia Pacific University Dr Mahmudul Alam, among others, spoke at the human chain programme.
