Cambodian Prime Minister (PM) Hun Sen arrived to a red carpet welcome in Dhaka Monday morning on a three-day official visit to Bangladesh during which the two countries are set to sign three agreements and a memorandum of understanding (MoU), reports UNB.
The Cambodian premier comes to Dhaka at the invitation of his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina who visited Cambodia in 2001. This is the highest-level visit from Cambodia to Bangladesh.
Hun Sen is leading a delegation comprising his Deputy PM, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, and other members of the Royal government.
A special aircraft of the Kingdom of Cambodia carrying the Cambodian
PM and members of his entourage landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9:50 am.
PM Sheikh Hasina received Hun Sen at the VVIP Terminal of the airport, while a tiny tot presented a bouquet to him.
A smartly turned out contingent drawn from the three services presented a guard of honour and state salute to Hun Sen.
Accompanied by Sheikh Hasina, the Cambodian PM inspected the guard and took the salute. National anthems of the two countries were played on the occasion.
Deputy Leader of Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam were present at the airport to welcome Hun Sen.
After the warm welcome at the airport, the Cambodian premier was taken in a ceremonial motorcade to Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel where he will reside during his visit to Bangladesh.
