IBA become champions in English debate

The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of the Dhaka University have become champions in the 'IBA National English Debate Championship 2007' defeating the North South University (NSU) in the final round.
Mohammad Arbaaz Nayeem of IBA team was adjudged the best speaker of the championship for making a significant and informative speech on the subject 'parliamentary democracy doesn't suit Bangladesh'.
The final result of the two-day debate tournament was announced at a gala ceremony in the city Sunday night following a banquet.
DU Vice-Chancellor SMA Faiz distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up as the chief guest while DU Pro-VC AFM Yusuf Haider and Managing Director of ACI Ltd Arif Dowla were present on the occasion as special guests.
IBA Director Muhammad Ziaul Haq Mamun presided over the function.
Some 24 teams from 17 reputed public and private universities including DU, IBA, BUET, Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, BRAC University, AIUB, IUB and NSU participated in the tournament from which IBA and NSU reached the final.
IBA organised the event while country's leading conglomerate Advanced Chemical Industries (ACI) Ltd was the sponsor.
