ICT in higher edn to achieve double digit growth, says Fazle Hasan Abed

Sir Fazle Hasan Abed KCMG urged all to give special attention to higher education through incorporating equitable learning and ICT to achieve a double digit growth for sustainable development goals, says a statement.

The founder and chairperson of BRAC said Bangladesh failed to invest in education giving the lowest budgetary allocations.

He was speaking at a seminar on "Assembly on Higher Education in Bangladesh" at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU) in the city Sunday.

The event was organised by the department of International Relations and the Department of History of the DU in association with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Bangladesh.

Sir Fazle Hasan emphasised the need for developing better students for universities nurtured by knowledgeable teachers, who in effect have to be role models.

Lauding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's plans for building private and public universities in every district, he asked for reviewing the private university act.

Professor Imtiaz Ahmed of the Department of International Relations, FES Bangladesh Resident Representative Franziska Korn and German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Thomas Prinz were also present.
