IGP urges SAARC police Work together to combat transnational crimes

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hasan Mahmud Khondker Thursday urged the police forces of SAARC countries to work together in a bid to control transnational crimes, reports UNB.

"The member states of Saarc have to face same types of crimes like terrorism, cyber crime, money laundering, human trafficking and drug smugglings for its geographical location," the IGP said while addressing the concluding session and certificate distribution ceremony of a training course on "Transnational Crime: Saarc Perspective" at the International Conference Centre of Mirpur Police Staff College.

Eighteen police officers equivalent to Superintendent of Police (SP) from India, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Bangladesh participated in the three-week long training course.

The IGP said the police members of the Saarc countries should have to extend their field of mutual cooperation as well as coordination to combat those types of crimes.

Highlighting the training, he said such kind of regional course will enlarge experience sharing as well as cooperation among the police members of the Saarc countries to control crimes.

Additional IGP of Special Branch Javed Patwari, Additional IGP Md Amir Uddin, Additional IGP of APBn Sheikh Hemayet Hossain, Additional IGP Md Mainur Rahman Chowdhury and senior police officers were present at the function with the Rector of the Police Staff College M Nazmul Haque in the chair.
