BARISAL, July 8 (UNB): Inclement weather for last two weeks paralysed normal life in Barisal region, creating uncertainty in agriculture, fishing and communication sectors.
Local meteorological department said 400mm rainfall was recorded here during this period.
Sources said sea and rivers have become turbulent due to influence of depressions, forcing the fishermen to stay idle at home most of the time.
Communication, especially river transportation in 28 internal and five coastal routes of the region was disrupted due to rough weather.
Condition of roads also became very bad especially in village areas as cracks and potholes developed in them.
The seedbed preparation for Aman paddy cultivation is also being hampered as most of the agricultural lands went under water due to the incessant downpour.
This may affect the Aman cultivation in the ensuing season and hamper ongoing Aus cultivation, officials of the Barisal regional agriculture department apprehended.
