Industries adviser admits problems in supply, distribution of fertiliser

DINAJPUR, Dec 1 (UNB): Industries Adviser Getee Ara Safia Chowdhury today admitted problems in the supply and distribution of fertiliser because of 'excessive control' but assured of resolving the difficulties facing the farmers.
The Adviser was exchanging views with cross section of the people at the Deputy Commissioner's office on agricultural inputs, price of essentials and law and order situation in the district.
"Excessive control of the government has created problem in easy availability of fertiliser," said the Adviser referring to the agitation and road blockade by the farmers in different parts of the country.
She added, "we are seriously thinking about the measures to ensure the supply of fertiliser and hope of resolving the problems soon."
The Adviser said Bangladesh is mainly an agricultural country. The government attaches priority to this sector.
Stressing equal importance on industrial growth she said factories should be set up in suitable areas so that the manufacturers do not face marketing problem. She assured the entrepreneurs of all assistance for setting up small industry.
