Inter-ministerial meeting adopts Eid programmes

The upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims, will be celebrated across the country in a befitting manner, reports BSS.
This was decided Tuesday at an inter-ministerial meeting held in the conference room of the Ministry of Religious Affairs with Religious Affairs Adviser ASM Matiur Rahman in the chair, an official handout said.
According to the programmes adopted at the meeting, the main Eid Jamaat (congregation) will be held at National Eidgah on the High Court premises at 8:30 am. In case of inclement weather, the Jamaat will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 8:30am.
Four Eid congregations will also be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 7:30am, 9:30am, 10:30am and 11:30am.
Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and other private television channels will air special programmes and the newspapers will bring out special supplements on the occasion.
National flags will be hoisted atop all government and private buildings. Main city thoroughfares from Banani Gate to Bangabhaban will be decorated by national flags and banners inscribed with `Eid Mubarak' in Bangla and Arabic.
Besides, Bangabhaban, Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, Chief Adviser's Office, Bangladesh Secretariat, Supreme Court Bhaban, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Osmani Auditorium will be illuminated on the night of Eid day.
Special diets will be served to the inmates of hospitals, jails, Government Shishu Sadans, vagrant welfare centres and destitute welfare centres.
Bangladesh missions abroad will also celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr in a befitting manner, the handout added.
Screening of films, holding of seminars, discussions, cultural functions will be organised in city on the occasion. Friendship football matches and Eid reunion and essay competition for children will also be arranged.
All high officials of the concerned ministries were present in the meeting.
