Int\\\'l Nurses Day bserved

Like other countries in the world, Bangladesh also observed the International Nurses Day on May 12 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale and mark the nurses' contributions to health services.

For this year the theme is "Nurses: A Force for Change: Care Effective, Cost Effective".

To observe the day Directorate of Nursing Services & Nestlé Nutrition Institute jointly organised a grand rally followed by a discussion and scientific session, said a press release.

Deputy Director (Edu), Directorate of Nursing Services, hosted it as the chairperson and Prof Dr Md Ismail Khan, Principal of Dhaka Medical College, was present as the chief guest. Director of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital Brig Gen Mohammad Mizanur Rahaman was also present.

 All the speakers at the session emphasised the need for increasing public awareness about nursing and nurses' contribution to healthcare.

Nurses are the fast and first point of contact for health services.
