Int'l Thalassemia Day today

The World Thalassemia Day will be observed in the country as elsewhere across the globe today (Tuesday) to create awareness about the deadly disease and the importance of blood donation, reports UNB.

The theme of this year's day is: "Thalassemia past, present and future: Documenting progress and patients' needs worldwide".

Thalassemia is an autosomal recessive blood disorders which gets inherited from parents to the children through genes. Different organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the day.
