Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu urged all associated with the film industry on Friday to work together to make good films of international standard which can compete with the global film industries, reports UNB.
Inu made the call while addressing a seminar titled 'Digital Film: Problems and Prospects' jointly organised by Bangladesh Film Archive (BFA) and Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) at BFDC in Dhaka marking the National Film Day.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and Information Secretary Mortuza Ahmed, among others, spoke at the programme with BFDC acting director general Haroon-or-Rashid in the chair.
Filmmaker Morshedul Islam presented the keynote paper at the seminar.
Observing that it is not possible to move forward without embracing new technology, Inu said the government will do everything necessary to move the country's film industry forward and make it digital and modern.
He also urged all concerned, including filmmakers, producers, distributors, technicians and artistes, to adapt to the digital technology as it will lead the industry in future.
The Information Minister said the government is working to make the film industry a non-communal, cultural and democratic one.
He urged the industry insiders to depict the country's history, achievement, culture and people in a positive note through their films and not to compromise with any evil culture.
Addressing the seminar, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor underscored the need for making good films and improving the standard of country's cinema halls.
He also urged parents and the government to encourage the younger generation to take more part in cultural practice.
Earlier, the Information Minister inaugurated the three-day programme of the National Film Day by releasing balloons in the air.
A rally was also brought out from the BFDC premises on the occasion
