Involvement of religious leaders in HR dev stressed

MYMENSINGH, Sept 20 (BSS): Vice-chancellor (VC) of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Prof Akhtar Hossain underscored the need for involving the religious leaders in the development of human resources in the country.
"The religious leaders could play a vital role in developing human resources through giving lessons about religion," he said while addressing a divisional inter-religious dialogue here, organised by the local office Islamic Foundation.
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner Md Ziaur Rahman Khan, the dialogue was participated, among others, by Moulana Mofazzal Hossain Khan, Secretary of the Islamic Foundation Hasan Jahangir Alam, Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation Abdul Baten.
The VC said the dialogue could bring positive impact in developing human resources on the basis of sincerity and devotion of each individual.
"Bangladesh is an example of communal harmony with believers of all religions performing their own rites and rituals independently and peacefully," he said.
Prof Akhtar Hossain urged all religious leaders to come forward for the further wellbeing of the society as well as the development of the country.
Four keynote papers were presented by Prof M Tajul Islam, Prof Pradip Kumar Biswas, Theofil Nokrek and PK Barua.
As many as 100 leaders of Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist and Christian communities from Jamalpur, Mymensingh, Sherpur and Netrokona districts joined the dialogue.
