Iqbal calls for providing easy term loans to washing plants

Adviser for LGRD, Labour and Employment Anwarul Iqbal Friday called upon the financial institutions to provide easy term loans to the backward linkage industrial units, particularly the washing plants in the garment sector for their development, reports BSS.
"I'm urging the management of financial institutions and commercial banks of the country to provide easy term loan with minimum interest to the washing plants," he told a discussion and Iftar partyin the city.
The discussion was organised by the Bangladesh Garments Exporters- oriented Garment Washing Industries Owners Association (BEOGWIOA) at Trust auditorium, an official handout said.
With president of the organisation Shafiqur Rahman in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by director general of the Department of Environment Khondoker Rashidul Haque, vice-president of BGMEA, ABM Shamsuddin and secretary general of BEOGWIOA, Gazi Ahmed Hasan.
The adviser said the washing industrial units have been playing a supplementing role in earning huge foreign exchange by the readymade garment sector.
Iqbal urged the owners of the washing industrial units to abide by the international labour law and the current compliance programme to ensure the rights of the employees.
He assured the BEOGWIOA of extending all possible cooperation in fulfilling the demands of the association.
Iqbal also advised them to maintain ecological-balance in running the industrial units.
