IUB confce stresses accountability for good governance

Speakers at a programme on Thursday observed that poor sense of accountability at both the government and private sectors acts as a deterrent to ensuring good governance.
Keeping this view in mind, they called for nurturing a culture of accountability in various levels- from family to workplace.
They made the observations at the inaugural session of a day-long conference on 'Accountability in Bangladesh: Issues and debates', organised by Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on its campus in the city.
IUB Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor M Omar Rahman, Pro-VC Milan Pagon, head of the Global Studies and Governance (GSG) Department Dr Imtiaz A Hussain, among others, attended the session.
Addressing the conference, Prof Omar Rahman said sense of accountability is intertwined with the notion of transparency.
