'Jabberer Boli Khela' to be held Apr 25

CHATTOGRAM, Apr 21: 'Jabberer Boli Khela', a historic and century-old traditional popular sports event of local people, will be held at Laldighi Ground in the port city on April 25 (Boishakh 12).
This is the 115th event of the wrestling competition which takes place every year.
The competition that was first held in 1909 has become a traditional culture of local people.
To mark the sports event, a three-day Boishakhi Mela will begin on April 24.
Hundreds of stalls of handicrafts, toys, essentials and cakes will be set up in the fair.
Leaders of the Abdul Jabber Smriti Boli Khela and the Boishakhi Mela Committee have requested all to help the authorities concerned and law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order.
They urged the businessmen concerned not to pay any money or toll to any illegal persons. They also requested the businessmen and wrestlers to contact the committee or law enforcement agencies in this regard.
The Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has taken special measures to maintain security in the venue of the sports event.
President of the Abdul Jabber Smrity Boli Khela and Kusti (Wrestling) Competition Committee and ward councillor Johor Lal Hajari said, "Although weather is very hot, stalls are being set up."
He hopes that at least 150 wrestlers, locally called 'Boli', will take part in the 115th wrestling competition.
