KHAGRACHHARI, Dec 3 (BSS): A jailer himself landed in jail in Khagrachhari hill district on charges of assaulting an inmate two years ago, officials said.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Abdullah al Mamun ordered jailor Faridur Rahman Rubel to be sent to prison rejecting his bail prayer as he appeared before the court being summoned.
Lawyers familiar with the case said a junior government employee Sultan Ali was crippled as he was severely beaten by the jailer as he was in Khagrachhari prison on an extortion case.
On his release from jail later, Ali filed the case against Rubel, who was now posted in southwestern Faridpur jail while he faces two other criminal cases in Khagrachhari.
