TANGAIL Sept 22: The fresh erosion by the Jamuna has taken a serious turn in different places of Tangail sadar, Bhuapur and Kalihati upazilas of the district devouring many crops land and houses of Bhuapur upazila.
Fresh erosion has started at riverside villages in Tangail sadar upazila after recession of the flood water.
Many people of the river bank area are living in panic as the erosion has taken a serious turn.
The affected people said the authorities concerned are yet to take any steps to check the erosion.
Sultan Mahmud of Mahmud Nagar union under sadar upazila said erosion is devouring the crops land and houses in the area every year but no effective steps have been taken to protect the locality.
A school teacher Habibur Rahman said every year the local Administration is dumping sand bags to check erosion.
