Japan pledges support for consolidation of peace, dev in CHT

Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka Shiro Sadoshima Wednesday visited Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) and assured his support to consolidation of peace and development in the CHT region, reports UNB.

The envoy visited small-scale irrigation and water management project carried out by Khagrachhari Hill District Council through Grant Assistance for Grass-roots and Human Security Projects from the Government of Japan, said a Japan Embassy media release.

Appreciating the progress of works for the irrigation project, Ambassador Sadoshima said improvement of agricultural production and livelihood of local people through this project is so important that it would definitely contribute to the consolidation of peace and overall development in the CHT region.

He also met Deputy Commissioner and District Council members of Rangamati as well as Chairman of the CHT Regional Council Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma alias Santu Larma.
