Japan to extend scientific help to Dhaka University

Japan will extend its scientific assistance, scholarships and fellowships for the young researchers and scientists of Dhaka University (DU) in the days ahead.
Japanese Ambassador Masayuki Inoue and a delegation of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) gave the assurance while calling on DU Vice-Chancellor SMA Faiz at the university's senate building Saturday.
During the meeting, they discussed various matters of mutual interest including the possibilities of establishing collaborative research programmes and exchange of junior researchers and scientists between DU and the universities in Japan.
"All types of assistance in the fields of science, academic and research activities, scholarships and fellowships to DU will be sponsored by the JSPS", JSPS Executive Director Murata Naoki said.
The DU VC thanked the Japan ambassador and the JSPS delegation for their keen interest in development of academic and research activities of DU.
DU Pro-VC AFM Yusuf Haider, Treasurer Syed Abul Kalam Azad, Centre of Excellence Director Syed Saleheen Qadri, first Secretary of Japan Embassy Omura Hiroshi and JSPS Deputy Head Sawa Koyama, among others, were present on the occasion.s
