Japan to hire more BD agri workers, caregivers


Japan is willing to hire more workers from Bangladesh for its different sectors like caregiving and agriculture.
State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Shofiqur Rahman Chowdhury said it to the journalists. Earlier, he had a meeting with the Japanese ambassador at the Probashi Kallyan Bhaban in the capital on Tuesday.
He noted that Japan has expressed interest in employing skilled manpower, as it needs foreign workers. There is a demand for skilled workers in various sectors of Japan, especially in caregiving, agriculture, etc.
That is why the ambassador expressed his willingness to hire more workers from Bangladesh.
The state minister mentioned that the envoy also emphasised learning Japanese language to get jobs, as language skill is mandatory for the Japan-bound workers in most of the sectors.
"We have also expressed our eagerness to send skilled workers in Japan, who are trained in Japanese language and have technical knowledge."
According to the Prime Minister's instructions, arrangements are being made to install contemporary and modern equipment in the technical training centres.
"We have also requested the Japan government to extend cooperation to improve language skill of the aspirants," he added.
Bangladesh sent about 600 technical interns to the East Asian country.
