Japan will provide US $159,908 equivalent to about Tk 10.1 million to support youths in the cyclone-affected areas of the country, reports UNB.
Ambassador of Japan in Bangladesh Masayuki Inoue signed a grant contract on Sunday with Tomoko Oka, Project Coordinator of Japanese NGO "Children without Borders".
Children without Borders or in Japanese language 'Kokkyo naki Kodomotachi (KnK) is a Japanese NGO whose main activities are lifting lives of underprivileged children in Asian countries.
In Bangladesh, KnK has been implementing assistance operation under the project called "Educational Assistance for Youths Affected by the Cyclone in Pirojpur District" in collaboration with local NGO and communities since last January with financial resources from the Japan Platform Fund supported by the Japanese government and business community.
Using the grant this time, KnK will continue and enhance its activity for the youths of underprivileged families in the cyclone-affected areas of the country, the release said.
